Here are some process photos from armature building, puppet making (body, clothes, hair, paint), rigging, to lighting set-ups. The actual lighting set-up included two ARRI 150s (with full diffusion brought in close to the set with c-stands) lighting at approximately 45 degrees at eye level with the puppet and backed away from the set to give room for animating, one black-wrapped DEDO light with CTO angled in on a c-stand, also with full diffusion, and a second black-wrapped DEDO light with straw gel angled in from the top right to give a bit more molding to the face--basically a high key lighting scenario with a few hair highlights. I used replacement mouths and eyelids made from super sculpey, painted with acrylics. The pupils are made of cloth cutouts and stuck on with wax. Food props are a mixture of super sculpey, foam, and acrylic paint.
I made patterns for the dress based on real patterns I found online, but had to tweak them to work for her proportions. The bodice is a regular crew neck with casual sleeves, all hand sewn. The skirt is a gathered skirt also hand sewn--copper wire was sewn into the hem for movement control.
